An Olympic challenge!

We’re sure many of you are suffering from Olympic Games withdrawal symptoms this week, but spare a thought for the void left in this superfan’s life following the end of London 2012…

Campervan enthusiast Rachel Kershaw dedicated more than two months and 5,000 miles to follow the Olympic torch along its route through the British Isles.

She was selected from hundreds of entrants by VistEngland to take part in its ‘Fan in a Van’ campaign, spending 70 days trailing the flame in a branded campervan.

Rachel began her journey in ‘Rosie’ the campervan at Land’s End in May, spending the next 70 days on the road before her trip reached its climax in East London ahead of the 30th Olympiad opening ceremony.

To celebrate the best of British, VistEngland challenged Rachel to visit several of the country’s top heritage sites and enjoy some tasty local dishes along her journey.

“I’ve always loved England, but it’s got so much more to offer than I realised before embarking on this trip,” remarked Kershaw. “I’ve travelled from north to south, east to west and have been welcomed warmly all along the way.”
