British motorists holding onto towcars
New figures released by the Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders (SMMT) have shown that economic challenges are changing the UK’s motoring industry.
British motorists are holding onto their cars for the longest period in history, with the average vehicle now reaching 7.44 years old – a two month increase on the 2011 average.
Running costs are also an important consideration, with fuel efficiency ranking highly among the performance issues that car buyers are taking into consideration. Diesel vehicles now hold their highest market share at 50.6 per cent.
The vehicle you drive plays and important role if you’re purchasing a touring caravan, as its size and power affects the weight of the vehicle that you can safely tow. This is called the payload, and there are a number of online payload calculators available online if you wish to check your tow car before buying a new caravan.
