Buying your first caravan
We can’t wait for the summer season ahead. While many seasoned caravanners have already taken their first spring break of the year, others are looking to venture into caravanning for the first time.
Here are some suggestions from the Coast Team if you are looking to purchase your first model.
Online Forums
Often some of the best advice and recommendations come from those with first-hand experience. Online caravan forums can be a great place to start asking questions. Members are always more than happy to share their experiences with you, from what to buy to what not to buy!
Online marketplaces
Just like when looking to buy a car, auction sites and used listings are a really good place to find what you’re looking for. Whether you want to buy or just have a browse at what is available, you will get a better idea about how much you’ll be expected to pay. Just remember to be wary of any internet scams, if something looks too good to be true, it probably is!
Online Reviews
If there is a particular brand or model you like to the look of, why not read the reviews that it has been given? Whether you agree or disagree with someone else’s opinion it’s always useful to bear in mind.
Caravan magazines
Caravan magazines are packed full of advice from the experts. Sign up to a monthly subscription or visit your local newsagents and pick up a copy.
Dealerships
Although caravan dealers will obviously want to sell you a caravan, take advantage of their expertise. Most dealerships will know their caravans inside and out, so don’t shy away from asking questions, however silly they might seem. Never feel pressured into buying from a dealership, it’s about making the decision that is right for you.
Caravan Clubs
There are lots of caravan clubs that you can choose to be a part of. If there is a particular manufacturer of caravan that you are interested in, many have their own ‘owner’s club.’ It is likely members will know a great deal about each model and be more than willing to share the pros and cons.
Caravan Insurance
When you have a relatively clear idea about which caravan you would like to purchase, why not give Coast a call to find out how much your insurance will be? We will happily provide you with a quotation on the model you are looking to buy, that way you can compare the prices of various caravans before you make you make your final purchase. Have fun
Buying a caravan will give you fun and adventure for years to come, there is nothing quite like it. Make the choice that’s right for you and you’ll never look back!
