Campervan vs. motorhome vs. RV

Having been in the industry for the best part of two decades, it can be easy for us to forget sometimes that the different ‘lingo’ we use can be hard to get your head around when you’re looking to purchase your first motorhome.

That’s why we enjoyed an article on the UK Parents Lounge website recently, which outlined the differences between campervans, motorhomes and RVs (sometimes called Winnebagos).

Generally speaking, campervans are the smallest of the bunch. Volkswagen produce one of the most iconic range of campervans, although compact leisure vehicles are currently available froma number of manufacturers. They don’t tend to have a shower or toilet either.

Motorhomes are the next step up, offering greater berths, more facilities (such as on-board bathrooms) and a greater number of ‘mod cons’.

For those with a larger budget, RVs are the top-of-the range leisure vehicles. Most commonly used in the USA, these tend to feature the latest technology and most gadgets and functions.
