Driving abroad: Italy

Following on from looking at driving in Spain and Germany, the Institute of Advanced Motorists has released some tips if you’re planning on taking your car to Italy this summer.

  • Use daytime running lights and turn your headlights on to dipped setting during times of poor visibility or when driving through tunnels
  • Carry your driving licence, V5 vehicle registration document and insurance certificate at all times
  • Leaded petrol is not available in Itality, however all grades of unleaded petrol, diesel and LPG are widely offered
  • Keep a warning triangle and reflective jacket in your car or motorhome
  •  Many towns have a ‘Zone a Traffico Limitato’ (ZTL) that restricts traffic to residents only. Contravening this will result in a fine

No matter what your holiday destination, make sure you check your touring caravan insurance or motorhome insurance is up to date before you set off. Coast offers great value cover in the UK and Europe – to find out more call Freephone 0800 614 849.
