France postpones breathalyser fines
Earlier this year French driving legislation changed, making it compulsory for motorists to carry a disposable breathalyser kit in their vehicle at all times.
Although the law was introduced in July, the French government confirmed it would not start issuing fines for those that were stopped and failed to produce a breathalyser until 1st November.
However, it has now decided to postpone any financial penalties – expected to amount to around €11 – until March 2013.
Anyone thinking of travelling in or through France should take note of the legislation as it applies to overseas motorists as well as native drivers. It is recommended that you purchase two breathalyser kits in case you are stopped and required to use one during your journey.
Breathalysers aren’t the only thing you need to think of when travelling abroad – you also need to ensure your caravan insurance or motorhome insurance is up to date.
