Moving your park home between sites

Generally speaking, our customers tend to sell their park home and purchase a newer model when they move from one site to another location. However, there are occasions when park home owners decide they want to transport their existing home.

For those of you considering this, we’ve put together a few things to consider before you start planning the next chapter in your park home life.

1. How old is your home?

The age and condition of your park home will determine whether it can realistically be moved between sites. Ageing lodges or ones in a deteriorating state of repair are unlikely to be easily transported.

Some double unit park homes may potentially be transported in two halves, however you need to consider whether any internal damage will be caused if you go down this route.

2. How will I move it from its current location?

Access routes play a key part in this – if a low-loader cannot reach it then your park home may need to be removed by crane.

3. How much will it cost?

Firstly this depends on the two points above: clearly a crane is going to increase the removal cost.

It’s not just a case of employing a professional firm to remove your park home, however. Your current site owner may charge you for removing the skirt from your home and disconnecting key utilities such as gas, electricity and water.

You may also be subject to charges in your new location to account for the re-siting of your home and connecting it up to utility sources.

4. Is it worth it?

Ultimately the decision is down to you. If you have a great emotional connection with your park home then it could be a worthwhile decision. However, many home sites offer great deals on new park homes so it’s worth looking at all options and making a few financial calculations before making your mind up.

Whatever you choose to do, make sure your home is covered by taking out a comprehensive park home insurance policy. Coast can offer you a no obligation quotation on your park home insurance by calling Freephone 0800 614 849.
