Theft warning for Yorkshire caravanners

Humberside police has issued a warning to people caravanning in East Riding, Yorkshire, following several caravan thefts in the area.

Already in 2013, 11 households in this part of the county have reported goods being stolen from their caravan or motorhome whilst it was parked on their driveway.

Police are urging holidaymakers to be especially vigilant when packing or unpacking their leisure vehicle for a trip, as opportunist thieves may take advantage of your unlocked vehicle whilst you are carrying items into or out of the house.

“The majority of the burglaries have happened across a weekend,” commented Humberside Police’s Joanne Roe. “I believe homes with caravans parked outside their addresses are being watched days prior to them going on a trip in their caravan.”

Although it is important to be vigilant when using your caravan or motorhome, and to properly secure it when it’s not in use, even with the utmost care there are unfortunate occasions when thefts occur. If you fall victim to stolen goods, having an up-to-date caravan insurance or motorhome insurance policy can save you money and worry.
