Coast’s festival favourites – with families, caravans and motorhomes in mind!

If you’ve missed out on the festival season this year never fear. Read this review to find out more about our favourite festivals that cater for families, caravans and motorhomes, so you can make sure your first in the queue for next years tickets.

1. Wilderness Festival

Held in August and set in Oxfordshire, this is described as one of the most beautiful festivals in the UK. Families have their own quiet field for camping or can opt for the Boutique Camping experience. By upgrading to a tipi or yurt, families have the privilege of ‘barrow boys’ to help with luggage as well as luxury toilets and a private chill out area. If you’re travelling with really little ones, find out more about the festivals Boutique Babysitting service. Caravan and campervan friendly.

2. Somersault Festival

A great location for those of your heading down to the South West for your summer holiday, as this festival is nestle amongst the rolling hills of North Devon. Set over 5 days in mid July and open to all ages, this festival is a celebration of music, adventure and outdoor living. With some fantastic acoustic sets it’s virtually impossible to not let yourself completely relax here. At £5.00 a ticket for children + booking fee you really have no excuse to miss this one. Caravan and campervan friendly.

3. Camp Bestival

A family-friendly sister of Bestival taking place in Dorset early August, they call this one Bestival for a good reason. This festival is one of the best created with children at heart. With live storybook readings, theatrical performances and music, your kids will probably remember these few days as some of the best of their lives. Under 10’s can enter free of charge with a full paying adult. There is a wide range of accommodation available depending on your budget and is of course caravan and campervan friendly.

4. Latitude

Suffolk based Latitude festival maybe fast becoming one of the largest festivals in the UK but is still one of our favourites. Named best family festival in 2012 it has a never ending array of family friendly activities available for children and parents alike. It is also one of the best for teenagers with an ‘Inbetweeners teen area’ with music, media, fashion and technology workshops. Family camping has its own arena entrance and the site is caravan and campervan friendly.

5. And lastly… Festival No6

We end our final 5 with Festival no 6 because taking place in early September, tickets are still available! Based in Portmeirion, Wales this Mediterranean themed festival is surrounded by sub-tropical vegetation for people who enjoy the finer things in life.  You can choose to stay either onsite in your own tent, opt for Boutique camping or stay in the village itself. The only problems you will have here is deciding on whether to spend your afternoon sipping on champagne and oysters or chilling in the luxury spa. Campervan and caravan friendly but unfortunately there is no room left onsite for this year.

Once you’ve decide upon which festival you’ll be visiting, remember if taking your caravan or motorhome you will have to pay for your pitch on top of your entrance fee (it will often give you this option when you book online.) If you would like to find out more about an insurance policy that will cover you while on site, call us on Freephone 0800 614 849 or apply for a quote online. We even open Saturdays.
