Don’t let your static caravan be a target for thieves
Winter is a time when many of us opt for weekends at home rather than weekends in the caravan. Unfortunately, an empty caravan site is an ideal target for thieves. Many sites have easy access routes and limited security at such a quiet time of year. Make sure your caravan is not put at a greater risk by following some simple steps below:
– Take out a comprehensive static caravan insurance policy with Coast Insurance
– Do not leave valuable items in your caravan. If you are worried about any items that need to be left over the winter period, make sure they are completely out of sight
– Install locks on all windows and robust locks on caravan doors
– Talk to your site owner about any posters that might be available to place in your caravan window, showing that no valuables are kept inside
– Contact your local police officer for leaflets listing further information on crime prevention
PC Pat Jalloal, Ceredigion Divisional Community Safety Officer, said “Burglars are opportunists – when they see an opportunity they take it. It is up to caravan and site owners to make sure they don’t provide burglars with that opportunity by following crime prevention advice.” (Tivy-Siud Advertiser)
This warning comes after over 86 caravan crimes have been reported in the Dyfed-Powys area over the last 14 months. (Tivy-Siud Advertiser)
