How to cook toast on your BBQ

Just because you are camping it doesn’t mean that you need to forego your favourite breakfast dishes. Here is a handy recipe to help you cook yummy fruit covered toast on your BBQ.

The ingredients you will need

3 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted

One 12-ounce can of non-fat evaporated milk

2 large eggs

2 tablespoons pure maple syrup, plus more for serving

2 teaspoons pure vanilla extract

1 teaspoon ground cinnamon

8 slices multi-grain bread, lightly toasted

1 cup mixed berries

What to do…

  1. Light your BBQ.
  2. Tear eight strips of foil each big enough for two slices of bread and lay them non-stick side up.
  3. Brush the pieces of foil with butter.
  4. Mix together your evaporated milk, eggs, vanilla and maple syrup in a small baking dish or large resealable bag (handy to pre make if you are camping).
  5. Dip the bread into the mixture and then lay it onto the ready laid out foil.
  6. To make the foil packs, lay the other sheets of foil butter side down on top of the laid out toast and seal the edges.
  7. Place the packs onto your BBQ and cook for 5 minutes on each side.
  8. Take the packet off the grill and carefully remove the foil. The inside of the bread should be custardy and the outside toasted.
  9. Finally, garnish the toast with fruit and maple syrup as desired.
  10. Enjoy!
