How to cook toast on your BBQ
Just because you are camping it doesn’t mean that you need to forego your favourite breakfast dishes. Here is a handy recipe to help you cook yummy fruit covered toast on your BBQ.
The ingredients you will need
3 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted
One 12-ounce can of non-fat evaporated milk
2 large eggs
2 tablespoons pure maple syrup, plus more for serving
2 teaspoons pure vanilla extract
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
8 slices multi-grain bread, lightly toasted
1 cup mixed berries
What to do…
- Light your BBQ.
- Tear eight strips of foil each big enough for two slices of bread and lay them non-stick side up.
- Brush the pieces of foil with butter.
- Mix together your evaporated milk, eggs, vanilla and maple syrup in a small baking dish or large resealable bag (handy to pre make if you are camping).
- Dip the bread into the mixture and then lay it onto the ready laid out foil.
- To make the foil packs, lay the other sheets of foil butter side down on top of the laid out toast and seal the edges.
- Place the packs onto your BBQ and cook for 5 minutes on each side.
- Take the packet off the grill and carefully remove the foil. The inside of the bread should be custardy and the outside toasted.
- Finally, garnish the toast with fruit and maple syrup as desired.
- Enjoy!
