Keep your caravan pristine with new ‘Olefin Sheet’

A recent report explains how Caravan owners can expect to maintain the lustre of their pride and joy thanks to a new high-performance product that resists stone chips and minor collisions.

The material, Bear-Ex, is a UV-stable, high-gloss, mouldable olefin sheet from Droitwich-based Big Bear Plastic Products.

The firm developed the product, which it said is shatter-proof and crack proof to very low temperatures, with Newton Aycliffe-based Primex Plastics, “specifically to address the damage to exterior vehicle panels caused by stone chips and minor collisions, and to improve the ease of installation”.

Big Bear said that Bailey of Bristol, the longest established caravan and motorhome manufacturer in the UK, had sought its help to find a way to enhance the durability of the exterior of its vehicles, leading to the collaboration with Primex.

Bear-Ex moulded panels are now fitted as standard to the majority of Bailey caravan and motorhome ranges.

Big Bear said that warranty claims for stone chip and body panel damage “have been virtually eliminated and speed and ease of installation has significantly improved”.
