Multi-million pound expansion for Skegness site

Lincolnshire holiday site Skegness Water Leisure Park has unveiled plans for a £4 million expansion of its facilities.

If given the green light by East Lindsey District Council, the park will create nearly 200 new static caravan pitches to welcome even more visitors each year.

Once at the site, residents of Skegness Water Leisure Park will be able to enjoy new leisure services including a butterfly garden, five-a-side football pitches, nature trail, fishing lake and tennis and badminton courts.

As well as promoting static caravan holidays in the Lincolnshire area, the expansion could boost the region’s economy as park owner Ellis Bros predicts its development plans will create up to 30 new jobs.

“The proposed scheme represents a massive investment in the local economy,” remarked Ellis Bros Group Manager John Chappell. “While the sea and the sand do a lot of that for us, people still want more than that these days when they come on holiday. Anything that helps to improve the facilities available in our coastal resort can only improve the volume of trade that comes here.”
