Things are looking up for motorhome manufacturers

We’re all aware that trading has been tough in recent years as the nation tightened its belt in the wake of recession. That’s why the Coast team was delighted to hear that motorhome sales were buoyant at last month’s Motorhome & Caravan Show.

A record 98,000 people attended this year’s event at the Birmingham NEC and many motorhome manufacturers noted strong consumer interest. The Swift Group notched up £9 million in motorhome sales with many of its lower priced models performing well, whilst Elddis sold 115 Autoquest campervans.

Hymer also remarked that its smaller models performed well, with the Compact coachbuilt motorhome attracting a great deal of interest.

Among the other manufacturers celebrating a strong show are Bürstner, Rapido, Adria and Pilote. Many of these firms said freezing prices for 2012/2013 have been a major contributing factor in the level of interest from showgoers.
