Be a part of Britain’s multi-million tourism industry

We’re all familiar with the term ‘staycation’, but did you know that domestic tourism generated more than £50 million for the UK last year alone?

A new survey by VisitEngland into the holiday habits of people in the UK has revealed that more than 1.5 billion day trips to national tourist attractions were made in 2011.

The average person spends £34 on their day trip, which means to cultural tours created a £54 billion boost for our economy – 77% of Britain’s total tourism expenditure.

“This survey represents a very important piece of the domestic tourism jigsaw,” commented James Berresford, VisitEngland’s Chief Executive. “Day visits are enormously important to the industry and the British economy and represent the cornerstone of the tourism industry in this country.”
