College offers caravan courses

If you’re a young caravanner hoping to pursue a career in the leisure industry, Kingston Maurward College in Dorchester could have the course to satisfy your needs.

The Suffolk school has launched a qualifaction in Tourism Park Management, which is designed to help those looking to enter the caravan park profession.

Over three and a half years, pupils will learn all the business aspects of running a site, from industry legislation to marketing, customer service, finance and operational strategies. A week’s work experience at a UK caravan park will also be included within the course syllabus.

The training scheme is being run by CITO, the Caravan Industry Training organisation, and its spokesperson Jenny Pritchard remarked to Caravan Times: “Students not currently working in the industry can be assisted in finding a work placement to get first-hand knowledge to back up their studies, and the flexible study pattern avoiding park busy periods would enable part-time employment alongside study.”
