Whether you own a static or touring caravan, taking out an insurance policy is the best way to protect your leisure home or vehicle from accidents, damage, loss and theft.
As a specialist insurer of caravans, Coast understands what a significant investment your caravan is and how important it is to ensure it’s covered if something does go wrong. When you get a caravan insurance quote from us, we’ll give you our best possible price without compromising on cover.
Our policies have been expertly designed with caravaners in mind. We offer two types of insurance cover: ‘new for old’, which means we’ll replace your current caravan with a new one if it is so badly damaged that it is beyond repair (or not cost effective to repair it), so long as the sum insured is sufficient, and ‘market value’ cover, where we will pay out the monetary value of your caravan in the event of a claim rather than replacing it like for like.
New for old cover is available for static caravans up to 20 years old and touring caravans up to 10 years old, with market value cover offered for statics and tourers up to the age of 20 and 15 respectively.
Caravan Insurance Policy Benefits
The most obvious benefit of a comprehensive caravan insurance policy is financial protection; if something goes wrong, you won’t face a huge repair bill. Knowing your static or touring caravan is in safe hands takes a huge weight off your shoulders, which means you can focus on enjoying your holiday time rather than worrying what will happen if you suffer an accident or damage.
Although our static and touring insurance are tailored to the unique needs of your home or vehicle, either caravan insurance policy offers fundamental cover against common risks including:
• Storm, fire and flood damage
• Theft and malicious damage
• Accidental damage
• Contents cover
• £2million public liability insurance
For static caravan owners, our tailored insurance policy has further great benefits such as protection against loss of rent and legal expenses cover – including for disputes between caravan owners and site operators. Meanwhile, our touring caravan insurance features European cover, impact protection and optional awning cover.
You can also add Motoring Legal Solutions cover to your insurance for an additional fee of £15 per year, which offers you additional legal cover against recovering uninsured losses or pursuing a personal injury claim.
Another great thing about our policies is that you can buy caravan insurance online as well as over the phone.

Genuine Customer Reviews
Our testimonials page has some great feedback from satisfied customers – here’s a taster of what some of them had to say…
“All the requirements I was looking for were met with total professionalism, courtesy and care.”
“Premium was £100+ cheaper than [a competitor] and cover was equal, or better…”
“Thank you for your quick and efficient response in dealing with my claim.”
Is Caravan Insurance Compulsory?
In short, caravan insurance is not mandatory for static or touring caravans, however the cost of an insurance premium is a small price to pay in comparison to the bills you could be facing if your caravan suffers an accident, damage or other tragedy.
Even if you’re being supremely careful, you can’t guarantee the actions of others – you could be hit by another vehicle whilst towing your tourer or a guest could spill a glass of red wine on your static caravan’s new carpet. These sorts of incidents can lead to you shelling out money if you’re not insured.
Rather than take that risk, opting for caravan insurance cover will give you the peace of mind you need to enjoy your holiday safe in the knowledge that your investment is fully protected.
Touring Caravan Insurance
As we said earlier, our caravan insurance policy for touring caravans has some specialist benefits designed to protect the unique needs of touring caravan owners. This includes covering your leisure vehicle abroad for up to 180 days each year, offering impact protection as part of our standard policy and repatriating your caravan to your home if the insured driver suffers an illness or injury on holiday that renders them unable to tow the ‘van.
Static Caravan Insurance
Equally, our Static Caravan Insurance has been developed to provide comprehensive cover for static holiday homes. For instance, we offer frozen food cover in case an electrical problem ruins the contents of your freezer. We also provide alternative accommodation should damage to your static caravan result in it being uninhabitable.
