Keep an eye on your caravan!

Do you believe your caravan is safely stored on your driveway just because you’re in the house? You might want to think again after hearing this tale…

Mark Wraight and his partner Debbie Goode from Biggleswade own a Bailey Ranger touring caravan, which they store on their front driveway. Debbie was in the house one day and came outside to find their caravan had disappeared – thieves had stolen it right in front of her nose!

In addition to losing the caravan itself, Mark was particularly upset because the leisure vehicle contained a number of radio-controlled model powerboats he had spent year building. The powerboats alone are worth £10,000.

According to the Biggleswade Today website a cash reward is available for anyone who can assist the police with the return of Mark and Debbie’s caravan and its contents.

When your caravan is in storage – whether it’s at your home or a specialist site – it’s important to make sure the vehicle is locked at all times. It is also important to secure your tourer with a wheel clamp and/or hitch lock.

Here at Coast, we insist that any tourers protects by our caravan insurance cover are fitted with a wheel clamp and hitchlock (for single axle caravans) or two wheel clamps and a hitchlock or wheel clamp, hitchlock and an activated burglar alarm (for double axle caravans).
