National Trust launches children’s outdoor activity programme

As the evenings get lighter and the school summer term now firmly underway, the National Trust is encouraging youngsters to embrace outdoor living with its list of ’50 things to do before you’re 11 ¾’.

Perfect activities for caravan or motorhome holidays, the list contains fresh air pursuits including wild camping, abseiling, planting flowers, feeding birds and setting up snail races. Children have a chance to earn virtual badges and the National Trust is also offering free scrapbooks at its heritage centres for young explorers to record their adventures.

National Trust has launched the initiative after unveiling saddening statistics in a recent survey; a third of children today have never climbed a tree, while ten percent are unable to ride a bike.
