Touring caravan and motorhome checklist
We’ve finally had a burst of sunshine this year, which has put the Coast staff in the mood for a spot of caravanning! Before you take your touring caravan or motorhome on the road this summer, however, here is a handy list of safety checks to make on your leisure vehicle:
- Are the tyres inflated to the correct pressure?
- Have all the wheel nuts been tightened?
- Do you have sufficient levels of oil, coolant and brake fluid in your motorhome or tow car?
- If you have a gas supply, has it been turned off at the cylinder?
- Are the on-board toilet tank, flush tank and water tank are empty if you have them?
- Have you shut and looked all window and door vents?
- Is the fridge power set to 12 volts?
Touring caravan owners
- Is your breakaway cable connected correctly and are the lights working?
- Has the caravan jockey wheel been lifted and is it secure?
- If you own a motor mover, has it been disengaged?
Even when taking the utmost care to properly prepare for a trip away, unfortunately sometimes things go wrong. That’s why Coast offers comprehensive touring caravan insurance and motorhome insurance policies to protect you in the event of unforeseen circumstances.
