Silver screen for welsh caravan

Outdoor living enthusiasts with a love of movies can now combine their two favourite passions thanks to a new caravan cinema, which has just been created by welsh non-profit firm Undercurrents.

The Sol Cinema offers the full cinema experience – from an usher to show you to your seat to warm popcorn and red carpets – in the comfort of a touring caravan. An LED projector is used to display the films on a large screen, powered by a combination of solar panels and lithium batteries.

Undercurrents believes the caravan, which can seat a maximum of eight visitors, to be the smallest cinema in the world.

“We show short movies but in terms of battery life we can keep going for days and days, as long as you’re clever about it and listen to the weather man,” Projectionist Paul O’Conner explained to the Caravan Times website.

Not everyone has such an inventive use for the caravan, but even if you’re not converting yours into a cinema you could still benefit from Coast’s comprehensive touring caravan insurance.
